Mrs. Siew-Chen Cheng

Vancouver - Siew-Chen Cheng (郑刘秀珍), passed away peacefully with her children and grandchildren by her side at the age of 91. She was preceded by her loving husband of 54 years, Chia-Lien Cheng and her daughter-in-law Detty Co Lim Cheng.

Siew-Chen was born in Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia to a large family of six children. Being the eldest daughter, she started supporting her family at a very young age of eight. After completing elementary school, she began her teaching career at Chung Hua School (中华学校) at age 14. Falling in love with an engineer from Shanghai in 1951, she got married and followed him to China for 25 years and then to Canada in 1976.

Nicknamed as “black magic” by her husband, she was a caring wife, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She and her husband travelled extensively in Asia, Europe and North America.

Siew-Chen is survived by her son, Chao-Chung Cheng with children Rachel and Justin, her daughter, Chao-Ping Lau (Keng-Yok) with daughter Sindy (Chris Muzyka) and grandchildren Liam and Riley, and her daughter Chao-Yong Lee (Tim) with children Jenine and Jensen. She will be greatly missed by her family.
