Silvio Mario Assalone

Our beloved father, husband, and nonno passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026 at the wonderful age of 100.

Silvio was born in Domanico, Cosenza, Italy on December 2nd, 1925. He married his true love, Rosa on April 25th, 1954 and they had 3 children.

He immigrated to Canada in 1964 to build a better life for his family.

Left to mourn are his wife Rosa, children John, Nino (Anna), Tina (Dave), grandchildren Angela, Laura (Slade), Vanessa (Steve), Melissa (Mark), Amanda (Joshua), Anthony, Carlo, Stefano, Julia and 11 great grandchildren. As well, his sister Clotilde and brother in laws Mario, Giovanni, Franco and sister in laws Mafalda, Rosetta, Teresa, Lina and Carmela and many nieces and nephews.

May he rest in peace and may all the wonderful memories be a comfort to all who knew him.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Chenchenstway Care Home for their kindness and loving care for the past few years.

Viewing will take place at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026 between 1:00-3:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 2025 Napier Street, Vancouver, B.C. on Wednesday March 4th at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow at Ocean View Burial Park - Abbey Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, a donation to his long time parish of St. Francis of Assisi will be greatly appreciated.
