Siu Ling Lam

Siu Ling Lam quietly passed away on January 5 at the age of 66 years after a battle with peritoneal cancer.

Siu Ling is survived by her family: son Jeffrey; step-daughter Edna (Gordon); stepson Howard (Ping) and his children Mark, Christina, and Colin; brother Hoi-Keung; and sister Siu-Yang. She was predeceased by her husband Henry King Lam, stepdaughter Eva, and sister Siu-Yung.

In recent years Siu Ling could often be found engaged in her favourite pastimes: swimming laps at nearby Percy Norman Pool and then at Hillcrest Pool, and puttering for hours in her garden which was the envy of the neighbourhood. Her prowess in raising all manner of fruits and vegetables (from seed only, thank-you very much) was renowned amongst her gardening colleagues. And, often close by could be seen, Siu-Ling’s inordinately large though mild-mannered orange tabby, Summer.

Grateful thanks to the numerous caring and considerate staff of the BC Cancer Agency and the Palliative Care Unit of Vancouver General Hospital encountered by Siu Ling during the course of her treatment.

A funeral service will be held Friday, January 11 at 1:30 PM at Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby. Visitation hours are 7-9 PM, Thursday, January 10.
