Mr. Stanley Quon Ying Wong

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in the Chapel, 3789 Royal Oak Ave, Burnaby, BC.

Mr. Stanley Quon Ying Wong was born in 1937 in Toishan, China. He moved to Hong Kong briefly in his early teenage years before immigrating to Canada in 1954, to live in Calgary with his grandfather for several years. Afterwards, he worked in New York and Toronto for a few years before returning to Hong Kong to marry his wife, Wendy Wai Sun Tam, in 1966.

As they settled in Vancouver in 1967 and together built a new life, Stanley and Wendy took pride in raising their two daughters, Brenda and Lana, making many selfless sacrifices. He worked diligently as a cook for over 35 years at several downtown Vancouver hotels to provide for his family.

Stanley, who was frugal and hardworking by nature, took great responsibility in supporting and caring for his family, often leading by example. He was a quiet man, who valued education and hard work, instilling these principles in his children and emphasizing the importance of family. During his retirement years, he loved travelling and enjoyed playing with his two grandchildren, Ryan and Alison.

With the good care of his family and doctors, Stanley bravely fought kidney disease for nearly 14 years and survived a major heart attack in 2021. He was a resilient and strong fighter as he battled his many illnesses.

On the morning of Monday, October 30, 2023, Stanley peacefully passed away in his sleep at home. All of his family and friends will miss him dearly and we will always treasure the memories we shared. Dad, you will forever live in our hearts and we will love you always.
