Sun Man Cheung (張新民)

March 27, 1936 – May 6, 2024

Sun Man Cheung, born in Zeng Cheng, China, peacefully passed away after a brief illness at Mount St. Joseph Hospital, in the evening of May 6th, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Sun Man moved to Hong Kong in the early 1950s and embarked on a lifelong career in the textile industry that took him overseas before he immigrated to Vancouver with his family in 1975. Sun Man will always be remembered for his inspiring work ethic, his self-reliant spirit, his enormous love for family, and his boisterous personality that warmed all who met and knew him.

He is survived by his wife Kwong Quan (née Lee), his three sons and daughters-in-law: Henry & Carmen, Simon & Sandra, Tommy & Flora; his grandson and granddaughter-in-law: Christopher & Tiffany; and his grandchildren: Gabriel, Samantha, Evan, Stephen, Aidan, Logan and Myra. He was predeceased by his parents, three siblings, and grandson Caelan.

The family will be hosting a viewing at Ocean View Funeral Home (4000 Imperial St, Burnaby, BC) on Sunday, May 19th from 7:00pm-9:00pm. A private funeral to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, May 20th starting at 1:00pm in the Chapel at Ocean View.
