It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Susan Marion Churko (nee Falconer) on Monday, February 6, 2023 at age 73. Born to Victor and Muriel in Vancouver, but soon after moved to Burnaby where she was raised. In 1969 she married Bernard Churko and together they remained in Burnaby to raise their own family. Susan worked for many years at Brentwood Mall in the old Eatons department store, as a sales associate. She eventually moved on to work at Vancouver Aquarium’s Clamshell gift shop, where she formed several special bonds with her co-workers, who admired her dedication and leadership. Sue retired in 2020, after more than 20 years of employment there.
Sue loved to travel, whether it was local, across the border to the US to explore different States or to far off places. With Bernie by her side they went on cruises and trips to such places as Hawaii, Bali, Morocco, Europe, the UK and a once in a lifetime tour and cruise around New Zealand and Southern Australia. When not traveling, Sue cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren, rarely missing a performance, milestone or celebration that involved them. Sue also enjoyed reading, going to flower festivals and walks along the New Westminster riverfront.
Susan is survived by her husband, Bernie, of 54 years, two sons and six grandchildren, Brian (Valerie), Gage, Tate, Piper. Paul (Kristal) Audrey, Cole, Caroline. Also, mourning her loss is former daughter-in-law Angelica Guglielmino. Brothers, Harvey (Ellen) Falconer and Dennis Falconer. Celebration of Life services will be on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Forest Lawn 3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby. Placement of the urn and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory, to BC Children’s Hospital.
