April 20, 1931 – June 19, 2025
"A life well-lived leaves a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories."
It is with profound love and sadness that we remember Tommaso Cantafio, who passed peacefully on June 19, 2025, at the age of 94.
Born in Amato, Catanzaro, Italy, Tommaso carried with him the values of hard work, resilience, and family when he made Canada his home. He devoted 39 years to CN Rail, always providing faithfully for his loved ones and showing a strong work ethic that inspired everyone around him.
For 70 years, he shared a beautiful marriage with his beloved wife, Maria. Together they built a warm and loving family filled with laughter and tradition. Tommaso was a proud father to Carmelina (Ralf), Toni (Lewis), Peter (Lori), and Janet (Eric).
He was the cherished Nonno to eight grandchildren: Alfredo (Lisa), David (Sara), Krista (Matthew), Melissa (Gordie), Thomas, Loryn, Chantel, and Steven. His joy multiplied with his great-grandchildren: Darius, Lexia, Leila, Monaco, Jakob, Jordan, and Logan, who brought even more love and laughter into his life.
Tommaso was predeceased by his father Pietro, mother Carmela, his dear sisters Giovanna and Clementina. He is lovingly remembered by his brother Frank and sister Maria, and will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives he touched over the years.
He is remembered not only for the love he gave but for his bright and welcoming smile—a smile that lit up every room and brought comfort to those around him.
An avid gardener, Tommaso found peace and purpose in tending to his plants and flowers. He was also a passionate Vancouver Canucks fan, cheering on his team with unwavering loyalty through every season.
Though Tommaso is deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His kindness, strength, and warmth will forever be remembered and cherished.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated July 2,2025 at 10am at Our Lady of Sorrows, entombment 12pm at OceanView
