Jimmy was proud to grow up in East Vancouver. As a youngster he worked the shoe shine and at his uncle's bakery during the war. In 1953 he began a 33-year career at the Vancouver Sun as a district advisor where he helped and inspired many girls and boys who delivered newspapers. Jimmy coached soccer and was the Umpire and Chief for Southern Slope Baseball for many years.
At 55 Jimmy retired and travelled to Vegas, Reno, Italy and Camano Island with all of his children. His hobbies were coin collecting, wine-making and gardening. Dad never forgot who you were, where you were from, or when your birthday was. He loved his New York Yankees baseball and silent movies, and lived by his motto "Every day is Christmas when you are happy."
