Vincenzo Carmine Ciampi

Vincenzo was born on February 16th, 1937 in Santa Paolina, Italy to Faustino and Antonia; he was the seventh child of nine children. Vincenzo leaves behind his wife Elvira and his three children, Tonia (Tom), Claudia (Mario) and Johnny (Jackie). He also leaves behind grandchildren Sarah, Mikaela, Jessica, Sam, Gianluca and Cristian.

Vincenzo made his way as a young man from Italy to Argentina in 1957 and ultimately to Vancouver, Canada in search of a better life. In 1964, he met his wife, Elvira, in Vancouver. Elvira was visiting from Sevilla, Spain and the two married, settled in Vancouver and had a family. Vincenzo ultimately pioneered the majority of his remaining family in Italy to Canada where they successfully immigrated to Vancouver.

Vincenzo was a welder by trade who worked the majority of his working life at BC Ferries Corporation. Vincenzo will be remembered for his tireless work ethic, attention to detail and quest for perfection no matter the task. Vincenzo enjoyed gardening and his pride and joy was their beautiful home in South Burnaby, which displayed the most gorgeous garden filled with exotic trees, plants and his personal favourite - kiwis.

Vincenzo had a debilitating stroke in November, 2017, and subsequently resided at the Burnaby long term care facility over the last two and half years. A special thanks to his brother, Orlando Ciampi, who spent countless hours visiting and caring for him over the past years. We would also like to thank the staff at Carlton Gardens who cared for him so well during his time there.

Vincenzo will be dearly remembered by family, friends and neighbours for his kindness, integrity, pride and devotion to his family. We are thankful he is now in a better place. We will love you and miss you forever.

In view of social distancing protocol, a private service for immediate family will take place. There are plans for a memorial mass at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.
