Michael invited Wendy to his baptism at West Coast Christian Fellowship in East Vancouver and they dated between 1981 and 1986. After a brief time apart, the two were back together in September of 1994.
Michael proposed to Wendy on April 19th, 1995, while they were attending Richmond Christian Fellowship. They were married on Saturday, Sept. 2nd, 1995, at Richmond Christian Fellowship by Pastor David Macfarlane. Michael worked at UBC Foodservices from 1990 until 2003 when he began his new career as a Call Centre Customer Service Representative from 2003 until his retirement in 2019. In 2013 they began attending Richmond Alliance Church and were part of the Worship Team for several years.
In 2020 after a month-long illness, Wendy was diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease due to an Immune System deficiency and was given between 3-5 and 7-10 years to live based on treatment options.
After 2 years of ongoing health issues, Wendy was rushed to Richmond Hospital on Saturday, Jan. 29th after suffering a serious medical emergency due to her weakened immune system.
Wendy Passed peacefully at Richmond Hospital ICU on Feb. 1st, 2022, at 1pm due to complications from Interstitial Lung Disease with her husband Michael at her bedside.
Wendy and Michael enjoyed 26 years of marriage and were able to celebrate their 26th Wedding Anniversary with a trip to Victoria, BC where they stayed at the Empress Hotel for a few days in Sept. 2021. They were planning the same trip a year earlier for their 25th Wedding Anniversary but Wendy’s health did not allow her to travel at that time.
Wendy was a loving, caring person with a deep abiding faith in God and a gift for singing. She had a memorable laugh and a great sense of humour which she shared with Michael and others. Wendy enjoyed travel and made trips to Europe and later to England in 1989 when she attended the King's Bible College between 1989 and 1990.
