May 6, 1966 - June 10, 2022
It is with profound sorrow that we mourn the passing of our beloved Wendy. After many months courageously facing Cancer, our dear Wendy passed away peacefully on June 10, 2022 holding her husband’s hand and surrounded by loving family.
She is finally at rest and reunited with her father Sandy, her mother Margaret, and her cherished sister Tina.
Wendy will be dearly missed by her husband Frank Catania whom she called her “rock” and who was by her side every day until the very end.
Wendy maintained many treasured relationships and will be lovingly remembered by a host of close lifelong friends, cousins and other family members, and her many inlaws who she considered her own family.
Wendy was both beautiful and intelligent. Born in Montreal, she graduated from McGill
University where she completed a Bachelors of Commerce degree. Her studies led her to a long career as a Business Analyst at Simon Fraser University.
She was a passionate traveler and she and Frank enjoyed many adventures to Europe , especially to their favorite city, Barcelona. The beaches of Turks and Caicos, where Frank proposed, also held a particularly special place in Wendy’s heart.
Wendy’s big heart and compassionate nature shone through her warm, infectious smile. She was generous beyond measure and was famous for her many acts of kindness. Her empathy also extended to animals for which she had a great love.
Those that knew Wendy understood that she was an intensely private, no-nonsense person.
In keeping with her humility and gentle nature, Wendy’s wish was that she leave this world quietly and without fanfare. Her family will respect her wishes and no service will be held.
In this time of grief we hope her loved ones find their own personal
way to honor her; be it a charity donation, planting a tree, writing a poem, or saying a prayer, we know your individual expressions would make Wendy very happy.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Intensive Care Units at Surrey and Burnaby Hospitals for their sensitive care and their compassion. We will be forever grateful.
