It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Winston Reginald Barrow, who died peacefully on March 5, 2026, in Port Moody, at the age of 85.
Winston was born on January 22, 1941, in Port of Spain, at #6 Kelly-Kenny Street, to his loving parents, William Barrow and Ermintrude Barrow (née Thomson). He grew up surrounded by a large and vibrant family and was one of many siblings, including Wesley, Russell, Beulah, Lucy, Brensley, Selwyn, Eldwyth, Evadne, and Godfrey.
On December 4, 1966, Winston married the love of his life, Betty, in Trinidad. Together they built a life grounded in love, resilience, and family. He was a devoted father to his daughter Wenona (Ken) and his son Wilhelm (Sara), and a proud grandfather to Keone, Paige, and Marlee.
Winston attended Tranquility Boys’ School and Queen's Royal College, where he developed a lifelong love of sport. He enjoyed playing cricket and football and was an active member of the QRC Sea Scouts. He played for one year as goalie at the Inter-Col level for QRC.
In 1971, Winston immigrated to Canada with Betty and their young daughter, beginning a new chapter filled with hard work and determination. He started his career as a mechanic and went on to become a dedicated millwright with Air Canada, where he worked for 33 years before retiring.
Winston was a man of many passions, with a particular love of sailing. He cherished time “liming” with family and friends, listening to SoCa and steelpan music, enjoying traditional Trini food, following horse racing, and challenging himself with Sudoku puzzles. Known for his skill and ingenuity, he was a master tinkerer—someone who could fix just about anything and was always ready to lend a helping hand.
Above all, Winston will be remembered for his warmth, his quiet strength, and his deep love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of care, craftsmanship, and connection that will continue to live on in those who knew and loved him.
Winston, “The Main Man,” Grandad, Winnon, will be greatly missed. Love you, Dad.
