Woon Mee Yee

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Woon Mee (May) Yee on August 17, 2024 at Vancouver General Hospital. May was born on August 19 1940 in Guangdong, China to father Chan Yat Wa and mother Leung Chok Hoi. She was married in Hong Kong in 1964 and came to Canada soon after with her husband Chuk Fun Yee.

May settled in Vancouver, BC, in 1965 and dedicated a significant portion of her life in the family business. She retired in 1995 and spent her remaining years traveling, volunteering, and gardening. Regardless of the job or task at hand, whether it was supporting her family, helping her friends, running the business, or volunteering at the temple, May always worked extremely hard at all her endeavors. May’s generous nature was appreciated by her family and friends, as May enjoyed sharing her home made food and bounties with all.

May was a devoted wife and beloved mother to her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband Chuk, her children Bob (along with Patricia), Paul (along with Susan), and Cindy (along with Christopher), and her grandchildren Terence, Jensen, Joshua, Parissa, and Kaylin.
