February 10, 1933 – October 1, 2013
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and devoted husband.
Predeceased in 1974 by our mother Chai Kam Wong. Our father is survived by our stepmom Jie Duan (Dina) Chen, daughters Lana Wong, Edna (Kelvin) Fong, Una (Winston) Jang.
Grandchildren Shannon, Tara, Richard, Alex Fenton, Derek, Daniel, Jessica Fong, Brendan & Rorie Jang.
Immigrating to Canada in 1956, Henry worked for CP Ferries in Victoria before coming to Vancouver. After honing his short order cook skills & becoming fluent in English, he became part of the opening staff as a waiter in 1961 for the infamous Trader Vic’s restaurant located in the Bayshore Inn. Henry helped close this restaurant 33 years later with many of the same opening staff. In that time Henry married, raised 3 children virtually single-handed, 9 grandchildren, & had too many friends to count. Flowers are appreciated or in lieu of flowers donations can be made in memoriam to the BC Cancer Foundation (http://bccancerfoundation.com) or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC and Yukon (http://www.heartandstroke.bc.ca).
Lovingly Missed and Forever in our Hearts.
