It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we share the passing of Ann Claire (Davis) Walker of Burnet, Texas on January 19, 2023 at the age of 88. Ann was a cherished and loving Christian wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.
Ann (called “MeMaw” by her grandchildren) was born on December 30, 1934 to parents, Everett L. and Myrtle Davis, in Moss Point, Mississippi. She was raised in the Houston area where she married the love of her life, Norman (Nonny) Walker. On June 21, 1952, they began their wonderful 70 year journey together as husband and wife. They raised their three children in Houston and Pearland, Texas. In their later years, moves were made to Wimberley, Rockport and most recently back to the beloved hill country in Burnet, Texas.
Ann attended Jeff Davis High School in Houston, Texas where she met her loving soul mate and husband, Nonny. She briefly worked outside the home before becoming a devoted full-time wife, homemaker and mother. While raising her family, Ann completed the Buddy Benz School of Floral design. Her passion for floral design evolved into several successful business ventures; co-owner of Gene-Claire Creations in Wimberley, Texas and then sole owner of A. Claire Creations in Pearland, Texas. These businesses involved creating floral arrangements for weddings and events, and later expanded into making ceramic decanters, home décor and Christmas ornaments. Ann was a feisty and eager participant in parasailing, hot air balloon rides, jumping on a trampoline, riding on a boogie board in Hawaii or just having fun on any adventure. She enjoyed music, cooking, gardening and watching the many beautiful birds and hummingbirds. Ann absolutely loved to travel and was always the first one in the car. No matter where you were going, she just wanted to go. Lastly, Ann’s greatest joy was her family. She was so giving and always put them first before herself. She always greeted everyone with a sweet smile, warm hug and a loving kiss on the cheek. Ann was the happiest on Sundays, filling her spiritual cup and spending wonderful moments with her cherished loved ones.
Ann is survived by her beloved husband Norman (Nonny) Walker, daughter Nonnette Sajdak and husband Walter; son Mitchel Walker and wife Dana, brother Charles (Richard) Davis and wife Margaret and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ann has numerous other family members and friends who loved her so dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents, son Michael Walker and siblings Neils (Bubba) Davis and Karen Hahn. Ann’s warmth, kindness and love will be deeply missed and we will forever cherish the precious memories we share.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and time. Memorial contributions in Ann Walker’s name may be made to her longtime favorite charity; St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. A heartfelt thank you to the many staff members at Bertram Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care. The family would also like to thank Beacon Hospice for their compassionate care during Ann’s life ending journey.
Psalm 23:4
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
