

Dayton Reed Warden, Sr. age 88, transcended peacefully on Wednesday, February 27, 2013. Dayton was born June 11, 1924 in Bertram, Texas to Benjamin Franklin and Mabel Ann Warden and married Wanda Merlene Huggins of Joppa, Texas. “Dayton Reed” as many called him, enjoyed life as a Rural Mail carrier, owner of a family grocery store, Real-estate broker, painter, paper hanger (assistant) and most of all, a loving family man.
He was a proud WWII veteran participating as a B24 tail gunner, an active member of the Bertram Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a 50 year Mason, and a UT sports fan who never met a stranger.
Dayton Reed is survived by two daughters- Linda Kauffman and husband Randy of Giddings; Kathy Landreth and husband John of Mansfield; one son Dayton Warden, Jr,.D.D.S. and wife Sharron of Bertram. One sister Ruth Ruble. Seven grandchildren- Jason Kauffman and wife Kristy of Giddings; Robyn Siegeler of Giddings; Amy Remington and husband Reid of Roanoke; Lane Hollenbeck (deceased), Nathan Landreth of Waco; Ben Warden and wife Kari of Midland; Adam Warden and wife Kailey of Bertram. Thirteen grandchildren- Chesney, Cade and DaCota Kauffman; Chase and Allie Siegeler; Tristan Hollenbeck; Cali, Cason, Caleb and Connor Remington; Emma Warden; Evelyn and Dayton Warden.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Bertram Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Bertram with Reverend Daryl Johnson officiating and Dr. Bob Shelton.
Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
