Delores, also known as “Dee” or “Lola” entered into Heaven on the Lords Day Sunday September 15, 2024. She was guided there by her Sons, infant Marshall Ivey Parker Jr, Elmer Kim Parker and their father Marshall Ivey Parker.
Delores blessed this world on January 22, 1941 in Dodge City Kansas. She was born to Sara and Jose Torrez and was one of their 15 children. The 10 girls and 5 boys were proud of their heritage of being born and raised in the Mexican Village.
In 1979 Delores left Kansas and planted deep roots in Texas where she raised her 8 children. Dee built a home filled with laughter and chatter, a home that was never empty and never quiet. She will be remembered for her extensive passion for music, her creativity, love of painting, and delightfully singing around the house as she cooked and cleaned. If you ever walked into Dee’s home you were served some homemade tortillas, enchiladas, or menudo. We remember her in the flowers she grew where the butterflies and hummingbirds would surround her.
She is survived by her 7 children Tina Parker, Marsha Parker, Gary Parker (Lucy), Hank Parker, Sara Creasey (Frank), Roland Parker, Marshall Jeffery “Pancho” Parker, 22 Grandchildren, 42 Great Grandchildren and 15 Great Great Grandchildren.
Delores never forgot her Dodge City roots and enjoyed many trips back and spending time with her sisters and brothers at Papa Joe’s house. Where the sisters loved to sing, dance and ensured there was never a dull moment. All her kids learned much with the many stories that the Tia’s and Tio’s told around Papa Joe’s table. Delores was proud that some of her drawings were included in the book by Tim Wenzl, Dodge City’s Mexican Village A Place in Time 1906-1956. Several of the stories in the book mentioned Delores and the Torrez family.
Mom always made her house a home and never refused a stranger.
The family will have a celebration of life for Delores in January around her birthday.
She will be missed dearly!
