

Dorman was born October 31, 1947, in Leander to William “Bill” Johns and Christine Allene (Pearson) Johns. He lived and grew up in the Leander and Austin area before entering the US Army where he served as a helicopter gunner and lineman in communications.
After leaving the Army, Dorman then began a longtime career as an all-around truck driver. The latter part of his work was with mobile home transport. He retired in 2007.
Dorman was married to Jo Ann Whited on May 27, 1977, and they were married for almost 46 years. He later experienced a number of health issues from exposure to Agent Orange during his time in the Army serving in Vietnam and for the past 2 ½ years he resided at the VA Home of the Brave in Kerrville where he received wonderful and personal care.
Dorman is survived by his wife Jo Ann Johns, daughter Coleen Montgomery, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Survivors include also his brother Lonzo Lohman and sister Patricia Garcia, Aunt Gladys Simpson and Uncle Joe and Aunt Ida Nell Pearson. Preceding Dorman in death were his parents Allene and Bill Johns, daughter Teresa Lee Easley, brother Douglas Johns and Uncle Bobby Simpson.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Monday April 3 from 5-7 PM at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet. The graveside service and Military Honors will take place Tuesday April 4 at 10 AM at Post Mountain Cemetery in Burnet.
