Dorothy Sanders Johnson

Dorothy Elaine Johnson was born on May 8,1947 to parents Richard Sanders, Sr and Dorothy Sanders. She was the eldest sibling born to this union. Dorothy passed away on September 7, 2024 and lived to be 77 years young. She was preceded in death by her younger brother Richard Sanders, Jr, Nieces Brandy Sanders and Renee Bird, her mother, Dorothy Sanders and most recently her father, Richard Sanders Sr.

Dorothy was baptized at an early age here at St. Matthew's and remained a believer in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ all of her life. She graduated from Burnet High School, met and later married Al Mclemore in 1968. They moved to Detroit, Michigan and to this union were born two daughters: Denisse and Erica. Dorothy returned home to Burnet in 1975 and raised her two daughters as a strong, single mother. She later remarried.

Dorothy worked for WBCO Opportunities{ The Neighborhood Center}, for over 30 years. She started at an entry level position and worked her way up to a Director where she oversaw programs and operations at both the Burnet and Marble Falls locations, along side her good friend and colleague Janie Atkinson.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory, daughters Denisse Mclemore, Erica Smith{Wayne}, Sister Elizabeth Houston{Rufus}, Grandson Jaden Southern, Niece Natalie Houston (Brent), Grand Niece Brittany Conley and Grand Nephew, Eric Conley and numerous relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Matthew AME for Dorothy on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM.

Memorial arrangements are being handled under the direction of Clements-Wilcox Funeral Burnet.
