Garland William Lovelace, 80, of Burnet passed away Sunday, September 5, 2010.
Garland was born December 9, 1929 to Erna Wagner Lovelace and Charles Nathaniel Lovelace in Port Arthur, TX and is survived by his wife of 53 years, Charlotte Alford Lovelace and two sons, Ross Lovelace and Shon Lovelace and daughter in law, Melinda Lovelace, all of Burnet. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Francis Lovelace Holmes and brother, Charles Nathaniel (Buddy) Lovelace.
He attended Texas A&M in College Station and Lamar University in Beaumont, where he was president of the rodeo club and active in ATO fraternity, as well as working and riding bulls in rodeos. He received his degree in Math & Science, and later received his Masters from Stephen F. Austin in psychology and counseling.
He spent six years in the Air Force, traveling the world as an aerial photographer on a B-29 and a B-36. Garland was a teacher for thirty-five years in Burnet, Marble Falls, and Llano while he built homes and raised cattle on the side. He was known as a great cook around Burnet especially with his BBQ, Gumbo, and special sausage recipe.
Funeral service will be held 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Ft. Jessup Cemetery in Ft. Jessup, LA. Memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church of Burnet, Hill Country Community Foundation or the charity of your choice.
