August 16, 1944 – December 27, 2022
A celebration of her life will be held at the Mahomet Cemetery, where she will join her ancestors dating back to the 1850s. The casual, graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 7th, at 10:30am with John Davenport officiating. Lunch will follow at Jardin Corona in Liberty Hill, Texas.
Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, Robert Noland, of Austin, Texas; daughter, Christa Noland and husband, Todd Prewitt, of Austin, Texas; nephew, Glynn Williams and wife, Joan, of Katy, Texas; and a host of other nieces and nephews, and greats. Glynda was preceded in death by her loving parents, Murray and Geneva (Brizendine) Williams, and her siblings Eldon Williams and Rosalyn Lackey.
Glynda was a lifetime musician, community leader, and later rancher in Burnet County. She was able to remain on family land where she was born, until her death, thanks to the loving support of her family, Dr. Elizabeth Peckham, Austin Palliative Care (Brian King, FNP), and Compassus Hospice (Lindsay, Nicole, and Mo). She bravely lived her final years with a disease few of us can even fathom.
Her multitude of friends and family will deeply miss her bright light, joyful and creative spirit, generous heart and kindness, and love of the land and nature. She was a woman of deep faith and upheld convictions; she saw beauty in the ordinary, and always wanted success – she didn’t ever “go along to go along.”
Glynda started playing piano/organ publicly, at Bertram Christian Church, at age 12. She shared her musical gifts at a lifetime of weddings, funerals, worship services, school events, revivals, and and outdoor guitar classes with children. And her final seat at the organ, Mahomet Christian Church, was abruptly removed when her family’s church was destroyed by Arson (2020). Glynda faithfully served in leadership roles throughout her life: Churches – Bertram/Mahomet Christian Churches, Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church (Austin), Bible Study Fellowship (Austin), and Central Christian (Austin); Schools – Eanes ISD & Hyde Park; and in her communities – Rollingwood, Austin, and Bertram/Mahomet. She freely shared her faith, and fiercely encouraged people to care for and lead both the children and most vulnerable among us and establish programs that built strong foundations; she always saw “what could be instead of what currently was” and was always “there and making it happen.”
She graduated from Bertram High School in 1962, and attended The University of Texas (Austin) and the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. She worked at the Bertram Hospital, dental offices, built a commercial family phone company (with her husband), and supported her family as a loving wife, mother, and daughter (ensuring her aging parents could remain on their ranch until their last breaths). She was a skilled artist, and her paintings have been publicly displayed and received many kudos.
Glynda’s loving presence will be greatly missed, and her spirit will live on through the generations she so deeply touched. She also believed fiercely in the children of the future, and her legacy will continue to live within them.
Pallbearers are Glynn Williams, Murray Weisinger, Laura Fox, Jessica Winget, Angela Avila, and Monica Crocker; and her honorary pallbearers are Paul Noland, Jimmy Noland, Gail Parsons, Taylor Aschermann, Teresa Winters, and Leneva Aschermann.
Donations, in her honor, can be directed to the Bertram Public Library (www.betramlibrary.org/makeadonation) and the MSA Coalition (www.multiplesystematrophy.org).
