

Jo Anne Truiett Phillips, 75 of Bertram passed away Friday, August 8, 2014. She was born January 22, 1939, in Elgin to Oscar Truiett and Madge (Clark) Truiett. She graduated from Austin High School and was baptized at age 14 at San Marcos Street Church of Christ in Austin. She worshiped at Govalle, Delwood, University Hill, and Bertram Churches of Christ.
Jo Anne had a unique and special affection for Elvis Presley. Jo Anne and Durwood were married 42 years and raised six daughters.
Jo Anne battled cancer for 31 years. Early when asked about her visitors and those who wanted to see her, she said “I want to see anyone who wants to see me.” She laughed and joked that anyone who would go to the trouble of finding her house must really have wanted to see her. She really appreciated each visit.
Jo Anne is survived by her husband Durwood, daughters Carolyn Edwards and husband Boyd of Bertram, Jennifer Kolbasinski and husband Steve of Austin and Stephanie McGill of Round Rock; step-daughters Rhonda Scott and husband Randy of Houston, Julie Leps and husband Ron of Weir, and Vicki Asp and husband David of Houston. Jo Anne is also survived by grandchildren McKenna, Rebecca, Melissa, Bethany, Mia, Justin, Misty, Landon, Robert, Ryan, Brian, Andrew, and Caleb and great grandson Gus.
The funeral service for Jo Anne will be conducted at 1:30 P.M. Sunday, August 10, 2014, at the Bertram Church of Christ with interment following at Oatmeal Cemetery.
