Virginia Kay Teague was born September 3, 1952, in Bertram, TX to Tom and Linnie Blanche (Hall) Heine. She passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, with her husband and children by her side.
The youngest of seven siblings, Kay grew up around Cow Creek in Bertram, TX. She attended school in Bertram. At the age of 15, she married Russell Teague on September 16, 1967. They lived in a few places in Central Texas, but mostly in the Bertram area until 1985, when they moved to Liberty Hill.
Kay spent many years in the service industry. She worked with her Mom at Westwood Boys Ranch in the Laundry, she was a waitress, and had a house cleaning business. For the last 25 years she worked at Little People Learning Place, first as a teacher with the infants and then in the kitchen as the “Snack Dealer”. She spent most of her life taking care of others, which seemed to be her calling.
Kay was very passionate about her yard, gardening, and growing plants. She definitely had a green thumb and could grow anything or bring it “back to life” for those that couldn’t. FAMILY was extremely important to her. She’s the glue that kept the family together. Having a houseful to feed at Thanksgiving and Christmas is what she loved along with family reunions and gatherings of any kind. Never showed up empty handed, even if it was just brownies or her famous Jeff Davis pie.
Kay is survived by her husband Russell; son Russell T. Teague, Sr. and wife Joyce of Liberty Hill, Texas; daughter, Kaylene Vickers and husband Shawn of Bertram, Texas. Kay is survived by her grandchildren James, Nashara and Josh, Kelsi and Brad, Makayla and Devin, Tyler and Talyn, Russell T. Jr and Sophia, and Chris and Melissa. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, her sisters-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Kay was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings.
Visitation will be held at the Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 pm.
