April 9, 1945 - October 14, 2021
Pastor Lorenzo M. Romero, Jr. passed away peacefully in his home in the early hours on the 14th of October. Pastor Lorenzo was a man of great faith and commitment to the Lord. He fought daily to live his life to the fullest; serving God and providing for his family kept him going. For 27 years he fought through many severe medical conditions, including cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and several others. His passion and will to live for God, regardless of all that came against him, defined a life that inspired and touched many people.
Pastor Lorenzo was born in Bishop, Texas to Lorenzo Sr. and Marcela Romero in 1945. He married his love in December of 1966 and raised a beautiful family of four children, nine grandchildren and a great grandchild. After several years of employment at Morton-Thiokol in Brigham City, Utah, Lorenzo gave his life to the Lord in 1976. In 1986, Pastor Romero and his wife Fannie moved their family to Burnet, Texas. One night, Pastor Romero woke, inspired by God, to purchase a church. They spent their life savings to “invest in heaven”, feeling the importance of having a church for their children and grandchildren to grow up in. They established Jesucristo La Roca Viva near downtown Burnet, Texas in 1993.
Pastor Lorenzo served Christ for over 45 years. Through these years the Lord gave him many visions. In 2000, he was inspired to build a new church, breaking ground in 2004 on Park Road 4 South. A small group of seven volunteers built a church of over 20,000 square feet. God’s visions continued, to include a radio ministry in 2014, KZTO FM 107.3, where Pastor Lorenzo began broadcasting his weekday program “Este Es El Dia”; “This is the Day”. Pastor Lorenzo is survived by his wife Fannie, his daughter Lorena and her husband Miguel, his daughter Crisen and her husband Cesar, his son Lorenzo III and his wife Elizabeth, his son Gabriel and his wife Jennifer, and a daughter Dominga. Pastor’s grandchildren include Gabriela, JC, Lorenzo IV, Kyrie, Marissa, Gabriel, Felicity, Tristan, and Mathew, and a great grandchild, Zion.
Pastor Lorenzo lived a full and blessed life. Forever committed to the things of the Lord, he never shield away from speaking the truth of God’s Word, in love. His commitment to ministering the Christian faith was paramount. As he was fond of ending his radio program, “Adelante con la Cruz”; “Forward with the Cross”. May those of us who knew and loved him, be inspired by Pastor’s life, and move forever forward with the cross.
