Rolf was a loving husband, honorary father and Papa. He came to the United States from Germany when he was a young man with his mother. He worked hard to learn English and graduate from high school and junior college. The early entrepreneur worked hard, whether it was valet parking at Bobby McGees in Newport Beach or seeking out land to invest in for his future.
A Vietnam War Veteran who selflessly served in the United States Army. He loved to tell stories with the many other Veterans he would meet throughout his travels and the scores of friends he made.
He and his bride, Janice traveled to many beautiful places around the world, most recently Italy, Greece and Turkey. Took many cruises to Mexico and Alaska and several trips to the Hawaiian Islands, their special place being Maui. They also traveled within the US with their many friends.
He loved his bride endlessly and never missed an opportunity to remind her how much he loved and appreciated her loving care.
He was an honorary dad to daughter, Christine and father-in-law to Brandon. Papa to Tyler and Tanner.
Whether it was soccer, football or wrestling, he would always be there to cheer on Tyler and his team.
Then along came Tanner. The first baby he ever held. He was a natural Papa from the day they first met. They loved to play chess together, swim, talk stocks, and arm wrestle. Always encouraging and loving.
Rolf was a friend to so many. We will miss his laugh, his generous heart, his gentle guidance. Our days will never quite be the same, he leaves us with a hole in our hearts.
He always said he believed in destiny, and I do believe we were destined to be a part of his life so that he could have his daughter and grandsons.
He had a family that loved him and cared for him, even made sure he had an apple fritter when he wanted one.
I am grateful for the unconditional love he showed my mom, my husband, my sons and to me. I hope he knew how loved he really was and that we will keep him in our hearts forever.
I love you Papa,
Christine
