TeRisa was born May 12, 1949 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Theodore (Ted) and Althea (Lenora) Terrell, and was their youngest child and only daughter. She grew up with her older brothers, Victor (Smitty), Jon, and Philip (Phil) Terrell, who were all known for spoiling their “Little Sis”.
TeRisa’s family made the move to Houston, Texas when she was very young for her father’s work. She graduated from James Madison High School and then started her first job working at Jones Apothecary in Houston. TeRisa had very fond memories and was very proud to have owned a Candy Apple Red 1969 Ford Mustang Sports car with checkboard seats after landing her first job. It was also during this time that she met one of her brothers, Smitty, friend, Daryle (Frank) Brown; they fell in love and were married in 1969.
One of her most memorable experiences after this was skydiving, which she did twice. During their marriage she had three children, Brandi, Sunshine, and Rusty, and afterwards they moved the family out to Kingsland, Texas in 1983 where all their children grew up.
TeRisa loved living in the Texas Hill Country and once her children were older, she started working as a Pharmacy Tech at Kingsland Pharmacy. She truly enjoyed this line of work and worked there for many years before her retirement.
TeRisa was a self-proclaimed Hippy and Flower Child, and friends and family all have memories of her peace signs, smiles, laughter, and kind words.
TeRisa unfortunately developed Alzheimer’s Dementia later in life and received very loving care at Bertram Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she’s resided since September 2021. She enjoyed spending time with the staff and friends she made there, as well as a local cat named Hank. Her family enjoyed taking her to El Rancho Mexican Restaurant across the street where she would get her favorite order of cheese enchiladas with a side of guacamole and a margarita on the rocks.
TeRisa is preceded in death by her father, mother, and brothers, and is survived by her children, Brandi, Sunshine, and Rusty, her grandchildren, Lauren, Sierra, Courtney, MJ and his wife Hope, Claire, and Jackson, and her great-grandchild, Mila, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held this summer with close family and friends at Inks Lake and the Llano River, two of her favorite places in the Texas Hill Country.
