Terry Sadler, aka the Mad Jap, was born to Alvis Terrell Sadler and Kinko Wada on May 16, 1947 in Yokohoma, Japan. He and his parents moved to American in September 1948. Due to his father being in the US Army, they moved to various places all over the world to include Tennessee, Missouri, Colorado, Germany, Kentucky, Georgia and finally settling down in San Antonio, TX. While living in Memphis, TN, his family had the honor of hosting a young Elvis Presley. During Elvis’s visit Terry had to give up his chicken leg to him.
Terry joined the US Army in 1966 at the age of 19. He fought for his country in Vietnam serving 1.5 tours.
He met the love of his life, Becki, at Tasty Treat in Burnet, TX. They were married in January 1971 and had a son December 25, 1972, which died that same day. They then had a daughter, Melanie, on June 8, 1974. Terry and his family lived in Germany, California and settled in Burnet in 1983, after he had a tour on the DMZ in Korea. Terry retired from the 1st Calvary Division at Ft. Hood as a First Sergeant in 1987. Throughout his career he received several awards and accommodations to include the Bronze Star and the Meritorious Service Medal. Terry spent his later years in life serving the lord by getting out with his church brothers and sister in service through his Jehovah Witness Church.
