

He passed away on August 6, 2016 at Greenview Manor Nursing Center Waco, TX.
He spent most of his adult life working in lumber mills. A police officer in Springfield, OR, a few years in the Navy and 20 plus years in the US Army and he retired from the military. He was a combat veteran, who was the recipient of a Silver Star, Purple Heart, Bronze Star with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, World War II Victory Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device and the American Campaign Medal. He was also the past District Governor and was an active member of Lions Club International for many years.
Val was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather and great great grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jethro E. and Nancy Mae Turner York, wife Norma Del Albright York and wife Shirley Elaine Erickson York.
He is survived by his wife Connie Armstrong York, 6 children Ruby Bond of Texas, Valton D. York Jr. (David Albright) of Oregon, Jacqueline Lynn Lockard of Oregon, Debra York McDaris of Tennessee, Dorothy York Enderle of Arizona, Diana York Paris of Arizona, 3 stepchildren Rick Taylor of California, Jeff Taylor of California, Brenda Goeders of South Dakota, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren.
No services are planned at this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or your favorite charity.
