Elaine Ruth Sulaski passed away May 11, 2025. She was born in Grand Rapids to Carl and Caroline Philipps (both deceased). She is survived by her husband of almost 54 years, Robert Sulaski; children Melissa “Missy” and Eric Campbell of Caledonia and John and Hang Sulaski of Commerce Township, Michigan; grandchildren Paige Campbell, Maia and Alex Sulaski. Other survivors are Alan (brother) and Carol Philipps of Nunica, Robert “Bob” (brother) and Jayne Philipps of Holland and Violet Sulaski of Peoria, Illinois.
Mom graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor’s in Education. After graduation, she taught special education for one year in West Allis, Wisconsin. She also worked at Michigan National Bank, Target, and School Spirit (retail store that helped support local schools with funding for extracurricular activities).
Elaine enjoyed traveling, music, sewing, crafts, and especially spending time with her family. She was a constant presence at both her children’s and grandchildren’s schools and other events. She was also valued for her kindness and could make the best Jello desserts everyone looked forward to eating.
We will all miss her deeply but take comfort in the fact she has been healed by her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315, with visitation from 10-11 a.m. prior to service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Interlochen Center for the Arts. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresbyron.com in their online guestbook.
