Herbert P. “Papa” Bowen, age 89, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 22, 2022. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Bowen and his daughters Benita and Susan. He will be deeply missed by his daughter, Sheila (David) Lenhart; grandchildren Sarah, Anna (Brandon), Jacob (Katelyn), Samantha (Kyle), Tabitha (Ryan), Andrea (Ben), Cordell (Mariah); great-grandchildren Isaac, Vivian, Joleigh, Calvin, Sadie, Hadalynn, Jackson, Preston, and one little blessing on the way; siblings Floyd (Joanne) Bowen and Corena Webster; and many extended relatives and friends.
Papa enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time at Sandy Pines. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. The great-grandkids will always remember “Tiny Papa” as always having a treat for them.
Visitation will be held from 4-7p.m. Friday, February 25, 2022 at Cook Funeral Home - Byron Center Chapel, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315, with Prayers of the Rosary at 4 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 26, 2022 at St. Mary’s Visitation Parish, 2459 146th Ave. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. In memory of Papa and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Visitation Parish - Restoring Our Heritage Campaign.
