Surviving are his devoted wife of 48 years and caregiver, Gail; children Travis Clement, Troy (Stephanie) Clement, Tara (Al) Cairns; beloved grandchildren Kaitlyn and Mason Clement, and Corbin and Rylee Cairns; brother-in-law, Cal Idema; sister, Marva (Tom) Vis; brother, Tom (Barb) Clement; and many nieces and nephews.
James was a proud Army veteran. He owned and operated Byron Center Trenching and Excavating for many years as a utility contractor.
