Joseph “Joe” R. VanLinden, age 67 of Wyoming, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 18, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Marie VanLinden; sister, Barbie Hargis. He is survived by his wife Cristine “Cris” VanLinden; children Matthew (Emilee) VanLinden, Lucas VanLinden, Bridget (Justin) Wetzel, Courtney (fiancé, Nick Wassenaar) Berns, Marisa Keeton, Dorian (Shona) Rodriguez; grandchildren Andrew, Kevin, Amalia, Harper, Infinity; sister, Anna (Steve Luttrull) VanLinden; and many extended family and friends.
Joe loved with a non-possessive heart. Joe enjoyed quiet times, prayer, golf, volleyball, singing, and chocolate. He enjoyed trips to the cottage relaxing on the porch, being with nature, chopping wood, making bonfires, boating, and hiking. His love language was service. He was a hard worker in many ways and was dedicated to Shape Corporation for 40 years. With each new life experience Joe strived to be a better man. He was kind, gentle, compassionate and grew in wisdom. He taught through examples more often than through words.
The Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2025 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church 9408 Wilson Ave. SW, Byron Center. The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30-10:15 a.m. prior to Mass on Thursday. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresbyron.com in their online guestbook. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joe’s memory may be made to Susan Mast ALS Foundation or the St. Sebastian Knights of Columbus.
