Joyce Hamm, age 78 of Byron Center, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, September 21, 2021. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bob Hamm; son, Jim (Lori) Hamm; daughter, Lisa (Tom) Geerlings; grandchildren Zack Holwerda, Noah, Jazmine, and Karissa Hamm, and Thomas, Jennifer, and Matthew Geerlings; and great-grandchild, Blair. Breadhoff, Debbie Parker, and Penny Dubart; along with sisters-in-law Wanda Hendricks, Judy
Weick, and Kathy VanPutten.
Joyce worked at South Kent Adult Education for a few years before retiring after 19 years with the Byron Center Public School District. She started working as Accounts Payable/Payroll Supervisor and concluded as the Business Manager in 1998. She retired to spend time with her grandkids, visit Croton, and spend the winter in Florida where she made many friends.
Joyce was a caring grandmother who enjoyed knitting, creating beautiful quilts and wall hangings, preparing food, and spending time with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchild. She will be greatly missed by her family; her holiday brunch was always a highlight, along with knitted socks for Christmas.
Visitation with Joyce’s family and friends will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St., Byron Center, Michigan, 49315. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2021 with an hour of visitation prior to service at Cook Funeral Home.
In honor of Joyce, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan Mast ALS Foundation (2500 Waldorf Ct., Grand Rapids, MI 49544). The family welcomes memories and messages online at cookcaresbyron.com.
