Margaret "Margie" Angela Vissman passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus September 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born May 7, 1940 in Louisville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of William J. Fehribach and Cecelia (Thrasher) Fehribach.
Margie graduated from Presentation Academy and pursued a nursing career at St. Mary & Elizabeth Nursing School in Louisville, KY. After graduating, she worked at the hospital alongside her future mother-in-law, Martha Vissman, a woman she greatly admired throughout her life. On April 28, 1962, Margie married the love of her life, William J. Vissman. Together, they shared a long and loving marriage, raising four children: Anthony J. Vissman, Bridgot K. (Vissman) Byrum, Christopher T. Vissman, and Douglas M. Vissman.
Margie had a distinguished career as an occupational health nurse. She began her career at Blackmer Pump in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and later at Bentler Corporation, also in Grand Rapids. In 1988, she accepted a position with Foodland Corporation in the greater Detroit area, where she served as an occupational health nurse. Her expertise led her to join The Marriott Corporation, where she oversaw the health and well-being of staff across multiple properties. Upon her retirement, the Vissmans relocated to West Michigan and lived on Maston Lake, AKA “Grandma’s lake.” She volunteered at the Alpha Women's Center of Greenville for several years and enjoyed working with young women as they traveled through life.
Margie was known for her compassion, dedication, and professionalism in all aspects of her life. She will be remembered for her warm heart, her faith, and unwavering love for her family and friends. Margie is survived by her beloved husband, William; four children and their spouses; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m. followed by a celebration of life service Saturday, September 21, 2024, at First Baptist Church, 134 S. Lincoln St., Stanton, MI 48888.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margie's memory to Alpha Family Services of Greenville, MI, an organization close to her heart. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresbyron.com in their guestbook online.
