Michelle will be deeply missed by her devoted husband of 23 years, Shane Wierenga; their cherished children Clinton, Clara, Sophia, and Corin (Coco); her loving parents Jan Lichty and Jerry Messenger; beloved siblings Lisa (Zach) Emery and Josh (Liz) Lichty; mother-in-law, Carol Wierenga; and sisters-in-law Tracy (Clayton) VanVolkinburg and Katie (John) Leestma. She is also survived by a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews, all of whom adored their Aunt Shelly. She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Nancy Messenger; father-in-law, Allen Jay Wierenga; and brother-in-law, Clinton Wierenga.
Shelly will always be remembered for the boundless love she shared with everyone she met. To know her was to feel instantly welcomed, as if you had been loved by her forever. She poured her heart into her home and family, embracing them with unwavering devotion and a selfless spirit that knew no limits. Shelly’s love for Jesus was the foundation of her life, guiding her every action. Her greatest joy was opening her home to as many people as it could hold, creating a space filled with warmth, laughter, and belonging. She lived with a servant’s heart, always willing to put others before herself, embodying the very essence of grace and sacrifice.
