Orville was born in Byron Center, Michigan to Clarence and Jennie Pasma. He graduated from Calvin College and after a stint in the Army, earned master’s degrees from Michigan State University and Syracuse University. A teaching career brought him to Kelloggsville Christian School, then briefly to Grandville Christian School, finally serving over three decades at South Christian High School. His love of nature led him to hand build a beautiful cabin home in the woods by Hardy Pond. Fishing was his passion both in Michigan and in Florida.
Orville married Tilly DeHaan in 1958 and enjoyed 54 years of marriage, compassionately caring for her during the last five years of her life. He then met and married Alice Lewis several years ago. During many years as a member of Byron Center First Christian Reformed Church, he served as deacon, elder, cadet counselor, and enjoyed singing bass in the choir. His faith continued to grow at Alger Park Church. Through this strong faith and love for the Lord, he continued his family’s legacy, influencing the people in his life.
