Raleigh "Ral" Terry Griffin

Raleigh Terry Griffin, age 69, went peacefully to be with his Lord Tuesday, November 9, 2021. Raleigh was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Norene Griffin; sister, Dolores Schulski; brothers Ronald and Randy Griffin; and grandsons Isaiah Griffin and Jase Betser. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 32 years, Melissa Griffin; children Kimberly (Ron) Betser, Kevin (Angela) Griffin; grandchildren Harper and Adalyn Betser, and Colten, Hunter, and Braylon Griffin; sister, Arvalyn (Earl “Mack”) Stegeman; and many nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law, cousins, and friends.

Raleigh loved his family. The simplest pleasures in life brought him great joy - gatherings spent playing cards, games, and catching up with those close to him top the list. He was famous for telling stories and being able to talk with just about anybody. Raleigh graduated from Wyoming Park High School. He worked alongside his dad installing garage doors for many years, learning the value of a good work ethic. He retired from SpartanNash after 26 years driving semi-truck, a job in which he took great pride.

Visitation with friends and relatives will be held from 3-6 p.m. Monday, November 22, 2021 at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th Street, Byron Center, MI 49315. A Celebration of Raleigh’s Life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Carlisle United Methodist Church, 1084 76th Street SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Pastor Gary Zinger will be officiating. (When in attendance, we kindly ask that all guests who are able wear a face covering and practice social distancing for their safety and the well-being of the family). In honor of Raleigh and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Down Syndrome Association of West Michigan or the Alzheimer’s Association. Interment will be at Winchester Cemetery.
