

Scott Clawson, truck driver / heavy equipment operator, was a resident of Allegan, Michigan for 40 plus years, then moved to Drummond Island, MI for eight years, and later became a resident of Grand Rapids, MI. Scott died unexpectedly Friday, January 17, 2025 at the age of 57.
Scott is survived by his wife, Pat Clawson (Baareman); children Ashley Granat (Clawson) and Alexander Granat, Dustin Clawson, Wendy and Chris Novak, Scott and Gena Pikaart; siblings Lisa Adams (Clawson) and Greg Adams, Kathy and Dale Vander Markt, Larry and Joy Baareman, Mark Baareman, Dale and Rolinda Baareman, Beth and Rick Bouwma, Judy Baareman; grandchildren Emily Hankinson, Allie and Riley Kaufman, Jacob Novak, Ryan Novak, Reese Balcuns, Nicole Pikaart, Zack Pikaart, Oakley Granat, Beckham Granat; great-grandchild, Rowan Kaufman; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Scott is preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Clawson (Unger); father, Weldon Clawson; and daughter, Mary-Jo Pikaart Balcuns.
Scott was born in Holland, MI September 19, 1967. He enlisted in the Army National Guard at the age of 17, he drove truck overseas in Germany for the Army. Later, he continued his truck driving career for Perrigo and then drove truck for USF Holland Motor for most of his truck driving career, 25 plus years.
Once married to his wife, Pat Clawson, he moved to Drummond Island, MI where he ended his career working at Drummond Dolomite. He ran heavy equipment to load and haul materials needing to be shipped out.
Scott was a devoted husband and father. He had the most caring heart and always helped anyone with whom he came into contact. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, golfing, cooking (grill master). He really enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. He loved watching all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and play. He was always a hardworking and kind man with a heart of gold.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial contributions to be made in support of suicide awareness.
Celebration of life service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2025 at the Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, with visitation from 9-11 a.m. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresbyron.com in their guestbook online.
