Sharon Rita Braate, age 82, went to be with her Lord on Monday, February 15, 2021. Sharon was preceded in death by her son, David Anthony Braate; parents Henry and Leona Farrell; siblings Ken (Phyllis) Farrell, Shirley (Dick) Kulfan, Arlyn (Paul) Madura, and Don Farrell. She will be remembered by her husband, Raymond Braate; children Barbara (David) Blakely, Phil (Kelli) Braate, and Eric Braate (Huy Nguyen); grandchildren Jessica English, Elizabeth English, Kendall Braate, and Connor Braate; siblings Janet Farrell and Geary (Darlene) Farrell; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Sharon was her family’s heart and soul. Her family was everything to her — a life’s work that she fostered tirelessly. She had a strong, unrelenting religious faith that carried her through life’s ups and downs. She also had an uncanny ability to burn garlic toast to a crisp every time she made it. So, no, she wasn’t perfect. Nobody is. But she was perfectly beautiful to those who knew and loved her. She is irreplaceable and will be missed by all.
Sharon’s celebration of life and funeral service details: Saturday, February 20, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 9408 Wilson Ave. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315; Visitation 10-11 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. To honor Sharon, contributions may be made to the Spectrum Health Hospice & Palliative Care or St. Sebastian Catholic Church.
