It is with heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of our beloved Shurley Welcome Robinson, who departed this world on December 26, 2023 at the remarkable age of 95. She leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and a lifetime of cherished memories that will forever remain etched in our hearts.
Shurley was born July 5, 1928 in Bellfontaine, OH to Rancy and Mary Cockrell as she truly was Shurley Welcome! From the earliest days of her life, she exuded a spirit of kindness and gentleness that endeared her to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her journey was marked by a deep and abiding love for family, friends, and the countless lives she touched along the way.
Throughout her 95 years, Shurley lived a life filled with joy, laughter, and unwavering devotion as dedicated wife to James; sister to Mary Ann Cockrell; mother to Valerie (David) Salyers, Keith (Tami) Robinson, and Karin (Steve) Schultz. A nurturing and loving mother, Shurley Robinson dedicated herself to the well-being and happiness of her family. Shurley took great delight in the role of a doting grandmother to Justin Salyers, Taylor Salyers, Alyssa Robinson, Jennifer (Steve) Hogue, and Stephanie (Josh) Jacobs; and great-grandmother to Kittridge and Gibson Jacobs. Her eyes would light up with pride and joy as she witnessed the growth of her grandchildren. Whether through family gatherings, Sunday home-cooked meals, or quiet moments, she imparted a sense of love and belonging that will forever shape the lives of those she touched. Shurley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, and son-in-law, David Salyers.
Though she may no longer be with us in person, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were privileged to know her.
A private family service will be held at Winchester Cemetery. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresbyron.com in Shurley’s online guest book.
