On Saturday, March 19, 2022, Verla A. Monroe went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 95. She left this life to join her husband, Wayne S. Monroe; parents Leonard and Audrey Dyer; son, Jeffrey Monroe; grandson, Jeffrey Wayne Blake; and sister, Crystal Alles in paradise. She is survived by children Marc Monroe, Bruce (Della) Monroe, Brandon Monroe, Jody (Randy Yeakey) Beukema, Troy Monroe; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Verla was a loving mother of her own children and was considered a mother and grandmother by many of her children’s friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She dedicated decades of volunteer service to Meals on Wheels, Byron Community Ministries, Byron United Methodist Church, several schools, and many more. Verla also kind of liked to cook.
Visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, Michigan. A lunch will follow at 2 p.m. at Dutton Shadyside Park, 7343 Hammond Ave SE, Caledonia Michigan, 49316.
