It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Lind Flynn, who, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 1, 2026, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, at the age of 71.
Beloved wife of Michael for 48 wonderful years, Barbara was a devoted and loving mother to Sarah (Jay), Laura (Noel) and Andrew (Amanda). She was a proud and cherished grandma to Devon, Lucas, Madelyn, and Carter, who brought her immense joy. Barbara is lovingly remembered by her siblings Judith (Edward), Patricia (Allan), and Pamela (Michael), and will forever remain in the hearts of her nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. She is predeceased by her parents, Jack and Lenore Simpson.
Barbara grew up in London (Byron), Ontario, where she began a life marked by curiosity, and compassion. She met the love of her life, Michael, at the University of Western Ontario. Barbara earned her degree in mathematics and went on to pursue her passion for education, becoming a high school teacher.
Her professional journey also included working in the field of computers at Mutual Life, which later became Sun Life. After the birth of her first child, Barbara chose to devote herself fully to her family as a stay-at-home mother, a role she embraced wholeheartedly. Later in life, she returned to teaching at Conestoga College, continuing to inspire and guide others. She also generously gave her time volunteering at Tait Street Elementary School and St. Andrew’s Public School.
In retirement, Barbara focused on what mattered most to her, spending time with her family. She found joy in reading, gardening, sewing, crafting, refurbishing furniture, playing the piano, and lifelong learning. Above all else, Barbara treasured making memories with her loved ones, always placing family first.
Visitation will be held at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrew’s Street, Cambridge on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a service to follow at 1:00 p.m. A reception will immediately follow. Interment will take place at a later date at Mount View Cemetery.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy, as well as donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, may be shared through the funeral home.
Barbara will be deeply missed and forever loved.
