Cecilia was a loving and proud mother, leaving a legacy of 4 sons and 3 daughters, 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and “Mudder Power” to way too many to count, as well as all of her “kids” acquired through marrying into her family. She was a woman with a zest for life who enjoyed her family and a wide circle of friends, games of cards at the Newfie Club and St. Thomas Church, coffee with the girls, and a beer with the boys, and a shot of rye to take her home. She is survived by her children John (Violet) Power, Tom (Nancy) Power, Margaret (Tom) Devereaux, Leo (Pauline) Power, Cecilia (Jeff) Hermer, Coleen (Dale) Hermer, and Paddy Power. She was also the best friend of 40+ years to Ruby Wright and her family. Cecilia was predeceased by her loving husband and companion John Ryan, her parents Edmund and Margaret Mercer, and 11 brothers and sisters. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. Ambrose Church (210 South Street, Cambridge). Interment will follow at Mount View Cemetery, and a reception will be held at the Galt Legion Branch #121 (4 Veterans Way, Cambridge). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
