Dave leaves behind his beloved wife of 50 years, June Stuart. He was a devoted father to his children Jennifer and Jeffrey, who will carry his memory with them always. He is now reunited with his parents, Ronald and Elizabeth Stuart, and his sister Penny.
A graduate of the University of Waterloo with a B.A. in Environmental Studies, Dave lived his life with a deep respect for the natural world. He dedicated his professional life to Parks Management – a career that would take him from Cambridge to Windsor and the Niagara region. He eventually returned to Cambridge where he served as Director of Parks and Outdoor Services until his retirement.
Dave’s passion for the outdoors was not limited to his work – it shaped his life. He found joy hiking and exploring parks, often blazing trails of his own. Some of his happiest memories were spent at the family cottage (“camp”) in the French River area near Sudbury. An active and adventurous spirit, Dave played competitive squash on travel teams in both Cambridge and Niagara. He found connection and community in his walking and fishing groups. When not outside, he was often found cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys.
The Stuart family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the staff at Fairview Mennonite Home for the exceptional care and compassion they offered Dave during his time with them.
Friends and loved ones are warmly invited to celebrate Dave’s life on Wednesday, September 17th. A memorial service will be at 2:00 in the Chapel at T. Little Funeral Home, 223 Main Street. A reception will follow where food, drinks, and memories will be shared in his honour.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dave’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Waterloo Wellington or Fairview Mennonite Home.
