April 20, 2015 in his 82nd year. Survived by children; Lindsey Carruthers
(Clyde), Beverley Weaver (John) and Martin Mills (Lorey). Derek will be
remembered by grandchildren; Alexandra (Brent), Adrienne, Matthew
(Nicole), Daniel (Baylee), Tyler, Justin (Stephanie), Chandra (Derek) and
Brooklyn (Jalin). Derek will also be survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
Derek was a member of the British Olympic Swim Team, President
of the Cambridge Labor Council, President of the United Way, President
and Executive Member of Galt Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 121.
He was very proud to have served at Buckingham Palace as a
Grenadier Guard. Friends will be received at T. Little Funeral Home,
223 Main Street, Cambridge, Ontario on Sunday April 26, 2015 from
2 – 4 p.m. for a Celebration of Life Gathering with a brief Memorial Tribute at 3 p.m.
As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations to the
Galt Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 121, the Alzheimer Society or the
charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
