It was determined that nature was reacting to the city’s loss at that moment of one of the most caring, giving, loving, beautiful (inside and out) ladies to bless Toronto with her presence. We lost Dian Elizabeth Kesler. Her smile brightened every room she entered, and every street she walked. Her loving manner touched everyone she met. Nobody was a stranger, everybody a friend.
She was a valued employee of the Toronto Star for 38 years, serving as Executive Assistant to the Chairman of the Board and President. She was a tireless worker at every challenge, with endless talents.
Her distinct soprano voice graced the stage during her 50+ years performing with the York Minstrels Show Choir. She was a skilled sailor; she loved the water especially around her cottage on Lake Rosseau, her favourite “home”. She enjoyed traveling, so when she met her life’s love, Patrick Mansfield, at 55 years of age, they were off to see the world visiting China, Japan, Egypt, Africa and on, always greeting new friends with that beautiful smile.
She is predeceased by her father and mother, Joe and Dolly Kesler and her sister Arlene Callies. She leaves behind a heart broken group consisting of her husband Patrick, her step-daughters Linda Mansfield-Smith (Peter) and Lori Mansfield, her step-granddaughters Katie Purdy (Dalton), Allison Stephenson (Jordan) and Sara Purdy, her brother-in law Claus Callies, nieces and nephew Heather Ardizzi (Johnny), Joanne Irwin (Steve) and Lorne Callies (Lisa).
Her effervescent smile and her laugh will always be remembered.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive relatives and friends for Visitation at the T. Little Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, Cambridge (519-623-1290) on Saturday, October 29th from noon until the time of the Memorial Service to celebrate her life at 1:00 p.m.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society or Cambridge Humane Society would be appreciated by her family.
