Elinore passed away at the age of 89. At almost 90, she would say she was “no spring chicken” though young at heart. Mom and grandma, you are so missed already. We are grateful to God, for His gentle and peaceful Welcome Home.
Mom was blessed by 2 loving husbands (John Newton, for 33 yrs. D.1989) and (Frank Driscoll, for 27 yrs. D.2023). She would often say how lucky she was, to love 2 times.
She is survived by 4 children, David (Lolita), Karen, Patti and Barb (John). Lots of grandchildren, Rachel (Emi), Jonathan, Amy (Shawn), Eric, Katrina, Olivia (Justin), Tara, Sara (Skylar), Ana, and Nadia. Plus the great-grandkids, Isaac, Chloe and William.
Also survived by her only sister Kathy (Romuald “Bob” d. 1989) and her 5 nieces (because Kathy just couldn’t stop at 4!), Linda, Debbie, Donna, Kathy and Betty.
Elinore was a daughter, sister, wife, mom, grandma, friend and long-time member of Forward Church. She was also a teacher, a career she loved for 30 years. Even after retirement, you could say that mom was still teaching. We learned lots from her. Especially about loving unconditionally, having faith, trying again, and accepting the good with the bad. Make the most of it. Live life with dignity and grace.
She was also a gardener, a square dancer, a big-time traveller, and a member of The Ancient Mariners. She was a dog-lover. She liked lunch on a sunny patio, lemon meringue pie and never said “no” to Chinese food. She always loved a good book, while she stretched out on the couch in the afternoon, and murder mysteries on TV in the evening, tucked up in bed. And like a true Canadian, never said no to a “Timmie’s"
For the last few years, Mom lived at Cambridge Country Manor. They took such good care of her. And us. We can’t thank them enough.
Private arrangements to honor Elinore’s life have been entrusted to Coutts Funeral Home. We have 89 years, full of beautiful memories, to celebrate. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Food Bank of Waterloo Region, The Salvation Army or a favourite charity.
