We are heartbroken to announce the unexpected but peaceful passing of Gail “Lish” Shortt, on December 2nd at the age of 64. A beloved sister, aunt, and friend, Lish was a bright spark in every room she entered.
Lish will be lovingly remembered by her brother Doug Shortt and his wife Janet, and by her sister Brenda Bakalar and her husband Daryl. She was a beloved aunt to Jocelyn Jarvis, Crystal Shortt, Stephen Shortt, Damon Bakalar, Dakota Reid (Keegan), and Dustin Bakalar. She also had a special place in her heart for her great niece and nephew, Paislee Reid and Wesley Reid. Lish was predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Bernice Shortt, with whom she is now reunited.
Lish was cherished for her vibrant humour and quick wit. She had an effortless ability to work a room and was the life of the party wherever she went. With her big personality, warm heart, and one-of-a-kind presence, she left an impression on everyone she met and will be deeply missed by many.
Lish’s life will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 9th 2025 at T. Little Funeral Home, 223 Main Street. Visitation will take place from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM, with a funeral service to follow in the chapel.
