Geordie Ian McGarry

Geordie is the beloved son of Fred McGarry (Kathryn) and Martha Wellington (Willem Wassink). Loving brother of Rory (Anna), Alex, Liam and Declan, and step-brother of Jenny Danahy (Will Reid). Geordie will be greatly missed by his aunts and uncles, many cousins, his three nieces and his step-grandfather. Beloved by his girlfriend Silvi Kurniawati, he will also be missed by his friends and co-workers.

His extraordinarily kind and generous heart meant he always gave others the biggest half of a cookie. Volunteering to help others in need and for his beloved church gave him great satisfaction. He preferred giving over receiving. He loved cooking and experimenting with food. Geordie was passionate about Tea, often sharing his knowledge enthusiastically about the different types, over the perfect cup. Board games and especially “GO: the oldest board game in history” were played with his many friends.

In accordance with the regulations of the Bereavement Authority of Ontario due to COVID-19, all events are restricted to a specified number of attendees. Please RSVP in advance by calling 519-621-1650. All visitors are asked to remain in their vehicles until their allotted time. Visitors are also required to wear a face covering and practice social distancing.

Friends and family are invited to Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge on Sunday, February 28, 2021 from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. Please follow the directions of the funeral home staff upon arrival.

Due to the restrictions concerning COVID-19 a private funeral service will be held and Geordie will be laid to rest at Mount View Cemetery.
