

After a lengthy illness, Jack peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 27th, 2018 at the age of 67 at Grand River Hospital - Freeport Site with his loving family at his side. Beloved husband to Lynda of 40 years. Loving dad to Kurt Purdy and Leslie-Anne (Grant) Unsworth. Proud Grandpa to Elizabeth and Charlotte. Dear brother to Marion Kimpel and Bruce (Mary) Purdy and brother-in-law to Yanon (Sharron) Begg. Nephew of George Brown. Uncle to Laura, Marc, Luke, Jennifer, Scott, Shannon, Rachel, Joel and Sarah. Jack is predeceased by his parents Frank and Bernice Purdy, his sister Helen Purdy and his brother-in-law Terry Kimpel. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his many friends, especially his best canine friend, Charlie. Jack was a Tool and Die Maker at W.C. Wood's for over 40 years. All of those that knew Jack can attest to what a hard worker he was. He could always be found puttering around and working in his shop. He also loved to do things for others, and was very proud of his infamous pond hockey rink. Jack was an avid hockey fan and enjoyed watching the Toronto Maple Leafs play whenever he had the chance. Relatives and friends will be received on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Coutts Funeral Home from 10 - 11 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Interment to follow the service at New Hope Cemetery, Cambridge. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made in Jack's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A very special thank you to the St. Mary's Cardiac Hospital staff, along with the staff of Grand River Hospital - Freeport Site for all of your compassionate care.
